Cherry Hill, N.J., May 14, 1997 - As part of its drive to bring an
entertainment-based Internet experience to living rooms everywhere,
American Interactive Media (AIM), OTCBB: AIME, has announced the first
agreements with content providers for its webPASSPORT System, a
soon-to-be-released service that will bring enhanced Internet to regular
home televisions.
The webPASSPORT device, which uses its own proprietary software and Internet browser, differs from conventional, computer-based Internet connections because it allows quick access to a host of specially built sites designed to appeal to a wide range of home users. A partial list of content providers whose special "channels" will be carried on webPASSPORT system to include:
"The webPASSPORT System is designed to enhance the television experience, and not to re-create the computer experience in the living room," explains Peter Yunich, AIM's CEO and veteran technology entrepreneur. "The problem with the Internet for home use- including such television-based systems as WebTV - is that most consumers quickly grow tired of its static, silent format. Our goal is to bring high-quality, dynamic entertainment content to living room televisions, while allowing easy access to traditional Internet sites, newsgroups, e-mail and everything else." A major component of the webPASSPORT system will be the "webPASSPORT Network," which will deliver so-called "push" technology to home televisions. At present, AIM's webPASSPORT System is the only product that will allow this important function, offering the user as an enhanced television experience.
American Interactive Media develops and markets Internet access hardware
and software products optimized for television viewing, targeting market
segments that include Internet Service Providers, telecommunications
companies, cable companies, utilities, consumer electronic companies,
content providers and affinity groups. Using the webPASSPORT
System, every TV household in America and throughout the world can get
access to the Internet, exchange e-mail, and create their own personal TV
channel that delivers, "on demand," the digital information and
entertainment the user selects to receive. AIM's Network Services will be
distributed through all digital media platforms, including Internet,
cable, DSS, wireless and broadcast. |
